joy2key

Joy2key is a utility to allow you to use a joystick for X and console programs that otherwise lack native joystick support. Although simple, it is very useful for applications such as games which benefit greatly from the convenience and ease of use that a joystick offers over the keyboard. Joy2key uses the /dev/js device interface.
In order to use joy2key, you need the following things:

Support for the Linux /dev/js interface, version 1.0 or better. This has been included as part of the mainstream kernel since the late 2.1 days and should definately be in 2.2 and above. You can also get the latest driver (installable loadable module) from http://atrey.karlin.mff.cuni.cz/~vojtech/joystick/
A desire to play games with the joystick :-)
The source code (joy2key-1.6.1.tar.gz)
If you cannot use a recent joystick driver, but are instead limited to 0.8.0, then here is the source code (joy2key-1.2.tar.gz) for joy2key 1.2.

The latest version of joy2key is 1.6.1. whoopie!
